A daring and deadly abseil -€“ all in the name of charity

Paul Ashurst, owner of Dominos Pizza and Bishop’s Stortford Chamber of Commerce committee member is seeking your help and generosity as he undertakes the challenge of a lifetime.

Here’s his story...

This Saturday I'm undertaking a daring and probably deadly abseil off of the water tower in Harlow (scary photo below) to raise funds for the pensioners who are suffering from Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s that I volunteer for on Mondays. If I raise enough I may even do it in the 6 inch glitter platform shoes I wore at the staff party earlier this year....

The last time I did something for sponsorship was when I was doing bob-a-job for the boy scouts, which, quite frankly, has scarred me for life, and the last time I abseiled was when I was about 9 years old on a PGL adventure holiday with school. Let's just say I've never been built for these kind of activities but I do still have a thing for men in harnesses.

Now for the part where you come in! I'm looking for people to sponsor me. Every penny goes towards entertaining and feeding the old folks who otherwise don't leave the house all week and who thoroughly enjoy the time we have together, even if I do have to introduce myself every time I see them, God love 'em.

Unfortunately the organisation is not advanced enough to have such things as the internet, JustGiving pages or probably many of the safety harnesses which you would expect to see at a modern event such as this so I just have a scrap of paper to write down whatever you are willing to give.

Any amount is welcome, but don't forget that this is probably the last thing I will ever do...

Thank you in advance!

Paul
