Frights and Fireworks – Halloween and Bonfire Night 2012!
22nd October 2012

Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble! We're less than a week away from the start of the witching hour (or week in this case). Yes, Halloween is at the end of the month, and Bonfire Night is only a few days after on November 5th 2012.

Now, you may be one of those irritatingly organised people and have already decided where you're going, what you're wearing, how you're getting there, who you're inviting etc, etc.

But for the rest of us mere mortals, who only remembered that Halloween was almost upon us when we did the 'big shop' this weekend and tripped over two dozen pumpkins, thebestof Billericay has done a bit of digging and come up with some suggestions...

Trick or Treat! Get bloody in Billericay this Halloween!

Into live music with a gruesome twist? On Saturday 27th October, 1st Bowl, Radford Way, Billericay will be playing host to their annual Monster Mosh event, which is being organised by local not-for-profit group, Big Stinky Dog.

There will be five bands playing from 7pm, with a DJ finishing the night off. Tickets are priced at £5 and all profits will be going to ensure that 2013's festival, ThingamaGig is the best ever.

Ideal for 4 to 8 year olds, Hanningfield Reservoir Visitor Centre in Downham is celebrating Hallowe'en by inviting children to make crafts and find the mysterious creatures lurking in the dark during 'Howl-o-ween' from 6pm until 8pm on October 31st 2012. Booking is essential and entry is priced at £5; fancy dress is optional but more than welcome!

Fancy paying a visit to what one newspaper recently called 'without a doubt the most despicable and degrading pub in Britain'? Witchcraft and the occult reign at the fictional pub, The Frog & Broomstick, and A Slice of Murder is professional comedy theatre at its best. It is to be held from 31st October until 2nd November from 7:30pm at The Cock Inn, Billericay. Tickets include a three course meal and are priced at £32.50.

And don't forget – if you are planning on attending one of our recommended events or have already decided to hold your own Halloween party, make sure you visit Jokers' Masquerade, where you can buy the perfect costume online for next day delivery straight to your door.

Firework Displays and Bonfire Nights

Noak Hill Golf Club invites everyone to join them at their Firework Display from 6pm until 11pm on November 2nd. It promises to be a great night, with plenty of hot food, mulled wine and hot chocolate, as well as a licensed bar for the adults. There will also be a prize for the best Guy so get your thinking caps on!

Tickets are priced at £7 per adult, £5 per child and £20 for a family. Please note that there are limited car parking spaces so car sharing, parking elsewhere or walking is recommended.

Make sure you put Saturday November 3rd in the diary as from 5:30pm until 10pm, the 43rd annual Billericay Round Table Bonfire Night and Fireworks Display is being held at Lake Meadows Park, Billericay. Sure to be a spectacular extravaganza to delight the whole family, tickets cost £4 per child aged 5 to 15 (0-4 enter free), 16's and overs £6 and senior citizens £4 if buying before the event (available until 3pm on the day). Gate sales are priced at £1 extra per person (0-4 exempt).
