WOOD AND WATER

Woodcraft Flooring was very pleased to have an opportunity to support the work of Alfriston School, a special school for girls with moderate learning difficulties in Knotty Green, by sponsoring the medals for their team in the local schools fancy-dress Fun Run on 16th March at Hall Barn.

The school is raising money for a new swimming pool as their old one is unusable and the girls have to travel sometimes as far as Windsor to be able to swim. The new pool building is an imaginative, award-winning design made of wood (an added interest to us!), and when built will also be used by the local community with priority given to disadvantaged people.

A rather cold, grey and damp March day was uplifted by their staunch efforts (and the colourful neon tutus worn by the girls and the staff!), and it was a pleasure to be able to reward and encourage them by presenting the medals, each one of which was richly deserved.

The pupils’ run raised a massive £2,223! We are pleased to have helped them raise such a fantastic amount of money and we wish them all the best for their future fundraising ventures. If you or your business would like to help towards the £2.2m cost of the pool, see www.project-splash.org.uk. The appeal now stands at over £606,000.
