Community Safety Patrol Officers at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council will be hot on the heels of antisocial behaviour (ASB) this summer.
Antisocial behaviour makes many people’s lives a misery. It can include vandalism, littering, noise nuisance, aggressive dogs, graffiti, verbal abuse and rowdy, threatening and inconsiderate behaviour.
Even what is perceived as ‘low level’ antisocial behaviour, when targeted and persistent, can have devastating effects on individuals, communities and local businesses.
During their campaign, which will run until September, the Community Safety Patrol Officers (CSPOs) are encouraging local residents to join them in tackling ASB across the borough by reporting any incidents.
They will be conducting high visibility patrols around the borough to deter ASB, gather evidence and reassure communities and victims. They will also be promoting measures to reduce the risks of ASB in addition to working with partner organisations to tackle issues.
Cabinet Member for Communities and Community Safety Cllr Simon Bound said: “Antisocial behaviour can make people’s lives a misery and we will use the range of our powers to take the most appropriate action to address it.
“There are a number of ways to report issues and we’re asking residents to contact the appropriate authority to report ASB. In an emergency, they should always call 999 and when it’s less urgent, they should ring 101.
