Call to get involved in Green Week

The annual event, organised by local community groups and residents and supported by the council, aims to showcase all of the good work happening to protect the environment around the borough.

This includes celebrating all of the local organic and environmentally friendly products and services.

This year’s event will run from Saturday 16 September to Monday 25 September.

The volunteers planning the week are looking for organisations, groups, charities and businesses to do something green during the week.

Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services and the Environment Cllr Hayley Eachus said: “It will be a week packed with stalls, outings, workshops, guided tours and other activities.

“There’s lots of ways that people can get involved. If you’re a member of a group you could suggest that your meeting has a green theme that week.

“If you’re part of a local business you could take the opportunity to look at innovative green ways of working. Or you could simply get involved in a planned event.

“We’re one of the very few boroughs in the country to hold an annual green week so we’re really proud to be part of it.”
