I was really happy to read over the weekend in the Basildon Recorder that it has been confirmed that we are going to get a £38,000,000 sports village for Basildon. Its been said that it is going to be an official training camp for the 2012 olympics which is fantastic as I believe that this will increase Basildon's profile as a great place to live and work.
What was quite shocking though is that this massive headline about major development going on in the town only failed to reach page 12 in the Basildon Recorder! and it was also strange that the headline that managed to make the 1st page was about cleaning up the river crouch, the other headline was that the iconic mother and child statue in the town centre was getting a jet wash which I suppose validates its first page but I thought the sports centre might just pip it also.
