When I was a kid (not that long ago) I will always have fond memories of jumping on the train and going shopping to Basildon with my mum. But the lasting memory of these trips out, apart from the excitment of going on a train, was always sitting on the edge of the fountain in the town square and trying not to get wet. God if only life was that simple nowadays!
I am so pleased that it has been restored to its former glory for everybody to now see again, and so the next generation of children in around the area will have fond memories of playing in the water.
Lets hope this symbol for Basildon keeps to its former glory for many years to come.
