I was looking in the Yellow advertiser today, and saw that the Contract for the Basildon Sporting Village was signed last Thursday. I think this is fantastic news as not only will it bring many well known athletes to the Basildon area, it will also put Basildon and the rest of Essex on the Sporting map. According to the yellow advertiser the construction work will begin on Monday 12th October which is only 3 weeks away! so not long, with the view of the facility opening in 2011. The sporting village will include a large amount of leisure facilites and a 50m international size swimming pool which will all be ready to use for the 2012 London Olympics.
