Now as well as promoting local events and organisations through thebestof, we’re also here and keen to support local good causes, can you help? This week the Haverhill Food Bank are short of the following, Instant mash and tin openers for starter packs. If you would like to donate any of these items to the Haverhill Food Bank please drop them off at the Next Door Coffee Shop by Haverhill Methodist Church, CB9 8HF - Monday-Friday 10am-2pm; Saturdays 11am-1pm. You have just a matter of days to take advantage of a fantastic offer from Abbeycroft Leisure. From now until the end of August the joining fee is only £1.00. This membership includes access to a 100 station gym, all exercise classes (60+weekly), Swimming pool, Tennis Courts, Power Room, Combat Room and reciprocal membership at Bury Leisure Centre. All of which you can use as often as you want, for as long as you want. The Cavendish Fete and Horticultural Show takes place this Saturday 30th August on Cavendish Village Green commencing at 1.30pm. Entrance is free, but 'lucky programmes' will be available for 50p. This is a big Fete with numerous attractions and side stalls. Birds of Prey, Punch and Judy, scale traction engine and donkey rides, a bouncy castle to name only a few. And finally, Clare in Bloom meets at 9am outside the Ancient House on Tuesday 2nd September and would welcome some more help if you are able to join them for a couple of hours gardening to take care of the Church borders and planters around Clare.
