I went to this hotel for Easter, such a wonderful service and lovely food. A very relaxing hotel with staff who are so helpful. I cannot fault my stay at this place and I have already booked for 2020, because I like this hotel and the service so much.

My Wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights and found the Staff the best we have ever encountered. Anita on reception, went the extra mile yo help us with our queries. No matter who was on reception when you came into the hotel, always greeted you with a smile and a kind word. The Staff in the Bar Restaurant did everything they could to make sure you enjoyed your meal, be it in the evening or at breakfast, , Olga, Sarah, Thomas, Josh and I apologise to the other Staff whose names I cannot remember, but it was really everyone. The housekeeping Staff made sure our room was always clean. The food was very good. Our room was on the small side and the shower was oddly placed, this was overshadowed by the cleanliness of the room and the super Staff in the hotel. The hotel is about ten minute walk from the town centre and the Port. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Thoroughly recommend this hotel. We enjoyed superb service throughout our stay. All the hotel staff went that one step more to make sure we received everything we could possibly want. Dinner and wine was excellent each time we ate.

We were a small group of six people (3 couples) staying for four nights on a B&B basis. The rooms are small but very comfortable (particularly the beds, linen and towels). Two rooms were on the top (4th) Floor and one on the 1st all had sea views. The restaurant is split into two - one a very large conservatory part and one part more shaded. Choice on offer for breakfast is extensive and very good - with the exception being the coffee - which neither looks or tastes as proper coffee should. The tea is fine. We had a small snack on one occasion which was good. The decor is quirky - heavily influenced by the history of the ownership - plenty of leopard and zebra patterns as well as art deco pieces. So you must be wondering why have we given a 5 star rating? The staff. They provide exceptional service - we have never experienced anything quite like it and we are all seasoned travellers. It is a broad mix of nationalities (26 I think) but they are all friendly, courteous, and genuinely focused on making your stay as enjoyable as possible. The hotel is located within walking distance of the center but is a good climb up or down - so not suitable for everyone - unless you want to use taxis. We strongly recommend this hotel and will be back.

We can not praise this hotel enough, we stayed for 3 nights for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. All the staff certainly made it memorable for us we were looked after very well. We found all the staff very kind and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Orlando was just a pleasure to have met, great sense of humour and again very kind and friendly. Our room was clean and a good size. Breakfast was very good, and restaurant food was very good too. We would certainly recommend this hotel, if we ever return to Guernsey we would definitely stay here again with no hesitation

We enjoyed a delightful 3 night stay recently at "The Duke". As with all Red Carnation hotels, guests are assured of friendly, attentive service from every single member of staff and comfortable rooms. The restaurant menu is varied and the dishes we sampled were delicious. Thank you Gareth and your excellent team!

I’ve stayed here a few times and it is always just so good. It’s the staff.... every one of them is polite, warm and professional. There is a culture here that must come from the top, so well done.

I wasn’t well on one day - I received a call from the Reception team enquiring as to how I was. A few minutes later a discreet knock at the door and when I opened it there was a bottle of Lucozade and some Berocca. Amazing.

It was our first time on the island and from the moment we walked inside the hotel, it was like a fairy tale. Adorable Georgia greeted us and seemed to already know our names and from that minute on, everyone we encountered greeted us first by our surname. She immediately offered that we had been upgraded to a room with a view. At first, that comment did not register with me, as we were tired from the ferry journey. The room, however, was very lovely and more than suited our needs. (Sark) it was especially nice to be in an end room as my husband is hearing impaired and needed the television louder than most. I did not have to be concerned that we would be too loud for the adjoining room, which was comforting to me. The bellman, Zoltan, was there at every turn to offer his assistance.

We were impressed in every way with the staff of the DOR. Each morning and evening we dined in the restaurant allowing us to form a solid bond with all in Orlando’s care. He was so engaging! I enjoyed reading that he has been with the DOR for over 20 years. Wow! That speaks highly of the Red Carnation hotels!

Olga and Csilla, two of my FAVES, were appreciated for her sincerity and knowledge of the daily fare. The new, young staff was excellent! I enjoyed getting to hear their ‘stories’ and their attention to detail every day.

The chefs, and especially the sous chef, Pedro, (who is extremely talented and may be under appreciated) were on target with every offering, and I believe we ordered them all! Thank each of you: Olga, Csilla, Sarah, Angela, Paul, Andre, Yazia, Andra, Linda and Thomas!

The only aspect of our DOR experience that I would change is the parking dilemma. I tired of jockeying our rental car up and down the street within the city time frames. The only point one of the 4 parking spaces opened, was our last night there, which was perfect, as I had received a $30 parking ticket on the 4th day and I was about to ‘lose it.’ I reluctantly paid this online, and think the hotel, with all the other amenities offered, should consider an alternative.

Back to Georgia...this young professional is on top of everything and I know soon she will be promoted! No request was too difficult, every wish was granted, except for the parking ticket, and I just loved her! Her love for her job and for the Red Carnation brand emanated for her bones! She was the overall shining star of our 5 day visit!
On Georgia’s only day off while we were there, Alexandra did an outstanding job!

And may I say, even though the hotel was preparing for special guests from the parent company the last 2 days we were there, we were still greeted and treated as we were the only ones that mattered! Outstanding service!

Keep up the great work! Ooo, I do have an idea you might want to investigate. We stayed at a small hotel in Poole the night before coming to Guernsey, and they offered in room teas from a local UK company that were outstanding! So much so, I’ve placed an online order...Bird & Blend Tea Company...such refreshing choices!

On our future journeys, we will seek out Red Carnation hotels. Again, thank you for your splendid hospitality and do relay our gratitude to these very important employees! They make you great!

I have just returned from spending ten days at the Duke of Richmond. As usual my room 315 was immaculate and the young ladies who looked after it kept it so .
As has been said the selection at breakfast was excellent and served with a cheery word and a smile.
The chefs working in full view of the restaurant, produced superb meals each evening. I particularly enjoyed the fish dishes. The staff in the restaurant are amazing and made me feel at ease throughout my stay. Olga,Sarah, Anita were real stars but everyone was so obliging.
I look forward to returning later in the year!

Stayed for four nights on a bed and breakfast deal. A wonderful welcome with Zolton insisting on taking the cases. A superb king sized room upgrade all immaculately clean. A superb breakfast and the array of items both hot, cold, healthy or unhealthy was on offer and Olga stood out when she was on duty (not forgetting Paul). With such a glowing report why only 4 stars? Free parking is quoted but there are only 5 spaces with one occupied by a skip and another by a builders van. There is on street parking but it is with a clock and if you can find a space, it took us an hour to get close enough to unload the cases, you have to move when the time is up.

In short it would have been a five had we not had a car.

I held my sister's hen party at the Duke of Richmond and we also stayed overnight. Right from the start it was really easy to deal with Hilario, Aine and Helen and they always replied to my emails promptly.

On the day the function room was set up really well and the concierge helped us to carry all of our things to the room and made sure it was warm enough.

The afternoon tea was faultless and they catered for special dietary requirements (gluten free, vegetarian and pescatarian) really well. They also made sure everyone was topped up with prosecco.

We also did cocktail making in the Leopard Bar  which was great fun.  A special mention to Orlando and Paul for going above and beyond to make it a truly special night.

The hotel room was clean and homely. The beds were very comfortable and there were robes and slippers in the room as well as toiletries, bottled water, tea, coffee and biscuits.
Breakfast the next morning included a continental buffet, a hot meal, juice and fruit. A really good selection.

All of the staff were extremely attentive, friendly and genuinely cared that we were having a great time (which we all did). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Duke of Richmond. Thank you very much!

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here for four days.We had a fantastic suite with a private sun terrace.
The staff were' First Class'nothing was to much trouble.Olga and Orlando made us feel like old friends with their lovely service and sense of humour Kashan and Tom in the restaurant could'nt do enough for us. As for Maruta and Ruth , the banter was great fun.even though they ran out of ginger for my 'Horses Neck'.But our complements to ALL the team. You made us feel so welcome. Our Room was very spacious with huge bed, very airey and clean and tidy. The Sun Terrace was beautiful and .the weather was amazing for the time of year. Clean, tidy, well equipped room, though a little small for all that was in it. Lovely, friendly accommodating staff. Fantastic breakfasts.
Would happily recommend this hotel to friends/family visiting guernsey

Stayed for one night prior to a trip to London, and intended to stay for two further nights on my return. Extremely unsettled weather conditions meant that my second stay ended up being for eleven nights! For both stays, I was accommodated in the most superb junior suite (see previous review). From arrival to departure, I was thoroughly spoilt by virtually all the staff. General Manager Gareth, Elysia, David, Georgia; Paul, Andris and Ruth in the bar; Olga, Orlando, Sarah, Andre and all the team in the restaurant (where I had breakfast every day and enjoyed dinner on ten of the eleven nights of my last stay. The suite, food and service were impeccable. Maintenance Manager Carl and his colleague Stewart gladly fixed a faulty bedside light. Elysia responded most patiently to my queries about air conditioning, laundry and many other things. Virtually all the staff excelled themselves in their own individual ways. I shall be back - there is nothing more certain than that.

Sitauted in a quiet road only five minutes walk from the main town and close to Candie Gardens and Cambridge Park, the two main green areas around. It's the best location in St Peter Port. Breakfast really good. Staff very helpful. Room luxurious. Bed great. Afternoon tea really worth trying in the large conservatory. Garreth, Helen and Hilario run a really great place with the smiling Olga and Orlando in the bar and restaurant. Reception staff helpful too. Best place to stay for location and value compared to other high end hotels of similar standard.

We went as a group to this hotel for the annual Post Office Christmas Meal. The food was excellent, the staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is spotless, and we all had a great time. Can't recommend this hotel enough.

An excellent hotel we were very well looked after. The staff are friendly and operate to the highest standards. The hotel is extremely clean and tidy.
Unfortunately during out stay we had a family bereavement and we could not get off the island due to high winds as we came over on the ferry with the car. The staff and duty managers could not help us enough and were extremely sympathetic and attended to all our needs, and acted above and beyond their call of duty. The duty manager through tremendous thought and effort managed to get us an earlier ferry so we could get back home to address the sad loss for which we were eternally greatful. We could not thank them enough.

My friend and I had the two course lunch on the Tennerfest Menu.
Only two tables in the restaurant so service was good. Sat in the conservatory part lovely and light and it was a sunny day.

Food was excellent in presentation and value for money. Particularly loved the Cape pickled fish started followed by rabbit paperdelle pasta and Winter vegetables.

Was a good venue where you could relax and catch up.

We have stayed in St Peter Port previously and have stayed at the Duke of Richmond whilst on business albeit several years ago. However, we were delighted with changes that the (new) owners have made and with the ethos of the whole staff who were happy to help and always with a smile. We shall certainly be back.

I very much enjoyed my 4 night visit here. The staff are splendid, especially in the Leopard Restaurant, led by Olga, who is extremely professional, and an excellent host. The restaurant itself is a splendidly bright and spacious area. Breakfast is wonderful! I became quite addicted to the fantastic omelettes . Judging from the fire escape map, the rooms are rather small for a four-star hotel, many far smaller than mine (which was not large). I needed to wear an extra layer in my room : the heating was pretty unreliable, and adjusting the dial (which bore no resemblance to the pictures in the guest manual) made little difference at the top end. Being autumn, I did not try the cooler end - the room was notionally air-conditioned. Keeping the bathroom door open allowed in heat from the towel-rail and under-floor heating. Keeping the thick curtains closed helped too - but blotted out the lovely sea view!! Package deals good value, but not sure I'd want to pay rack-rate prices. In summary, a nice hotel with a dedicated staff, and, judging by breakfast, an excellent restaurant.

I had been recommended this hotel by a friend who stayed last year. The photos drew me in if nothing else! The opulent 1920s style decor in black & white and leopard prints as you enter the hotel. Staff are incredibly welcoming and will do all they can to ensure you have a pleasant stay. The guest rooms are opulent in furnishings and every need catered for. Yes, it is uphill and a good walk into town but only a few mins by taxi. I would highly recommend this hotel and I sincerely thank all staff for a very pleasant stay

My wife, Penny and myself have just returned from a 5 day stay at the Duke of Richmond, and had an excellent experience. Our first impression was one of a really comfortable hotel with very attentive staff. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff on reception. On top of this, the bar and restaurant staff were exceptional. Cocktail waiters Alex and Paul were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The two restaurant managers Linda and Chilla (I think) couldn't have been friendlier, but also exceptionally professional. We had a lovely stay. Thank you.

This is a really fabulous hotel - luxurious yet relaxed. Our Room was superb - a twin suite beautifully decorated and with a wonderful view. The public rooms were also fantastic - comfortable and quirky yet with stylish decor. On the last of our 3 nights, my friend became very unwell and the staff were absolutely wonderful - so helpful and caring. The only negative is that it is a bit of a walk into the town centre, but this is more than made up for with it's great outdoor area (including a pool) and the wonderful view.
