Unless you’re staying in the hotel you might not think to go for lunch but you’re making a huge mistake. The food is heavenly and the service is attentive, yet not intrusive. Everything we ate was delicious but can’t describe how luscious the open fish pie was, I can’t recommend it enough.
I’ve already booked my next visit!

The hotel staff were so helpful and friendly to us and our dog.
There was a dog bed and bowl waiting for us and they helped with various requests.
There are lovely touches with tea/coffee, water and refreshments in the lobby.
Bathroom was a little small but immaculate.

We stayed here for 5 nights late July to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were both impressed with the hotel, service and food. Breakfast served on the terrace was lovely, we were obviously blessed with good weather. We had dinner in the hotel 3 nights and all were very good. Our room had a very efficient and quiet air conditioner which was a godsend in the recent heatwave.
All the staff we were involved with were excellent and really helpful.
It is a 10 minute walk down the hill and through the park to the town but quite a climb for the return which was taking us 20 minutes or so with rest stops.
Would we return for another visit ? Definitely.

Arrived home today July 13 after a wonderful week at the Duke of Richmond. What a fabulous hotel we stayed at. The food was great, but the breakfasts we're phenomenal. The amount of food they served up was outstanding and delicious. There were one or two criticism's, my morning paper didn't turn one day and today we had left before it came, each day we booked evening meal in the restaurant but when we went down to dinner our name wasn't on the list. LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE BEST PART OF ALL THE HOTEL WERE THE STAFF, THEY VERY HELPFUL AND COURTEOUS TO ALL. WE CANNOT THANK THEM ENOUGH FOR MAKING OUR STAY SO ENJOYABLE. IF ANYONE WANTS A FIRST CLASS HOTEL WITH FIRST CLASS STAFF, STAY AT ...

THE DUKE OF RICHMOND... ITS IN GUERNSEY.

Not easy to walk to and from town. The decor was a bit garish. we weren’t very impressed with the breakfast. Dinner was fine. Staff were courteous. Some of this review wouldn’t apply to a young person.

My husband & stayed for two nights over my birthday. The whole stay was wonderful, the food was excellent, room was beautifully decorated and very clean with high level of extras (water, robe, slippers, sewing kit, etc). All the staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly, nothing was any trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and are already planning another stay here.

We stayed for a couple of nights and were impressed by the level of service. We had a lovely big room overlooking a green and it is in a good residential spot with many fine period buildings. Walking in to St Peter Port took less time than expected (10-15 minutes) but it is hilly. The facilities on the hotel are good with excellent breakfast on the terrace and a pool. Only downsides are limited parking and not so keen on some of the artwork. These proved minor with our main memories the superb staff, the setting and the food. Will stay again.

Spent 4 nights with my wife and daughter. Lovely hotel with very good staff. Even when things go slightly wrong, they are quick to put it right and with good grace. We had a couple of issues on arrival but the mark of a good hotel is that they respond and make the customer happy. Very nice rooms lounge/bar/restaurant areas and excellent food at dinner and breakfast, All the staff were excellent with a positive attitude but we'd pick out Noah who we met on the first day and who later gave good recommendations.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful week at the Duke of Richmond Hotel. The hotel is mid-size, kept scrupulously clean, served superb food, whether breakfast (served at your table from an extensive menu) or dinner and was beautifully situated just on the edge of the town centre, near Candie Park. Walking into the town centre takes about ten minutes, but it is uphill on the way back. The real stars of the hotel were the staff. Always cheerful, without question they could not do enough to help, however trivial the problem. It was clear that a number of the younger members of staff were undertaking training and the quality of this was there for all to see. It would be inappropriate to single out individuals because clearly the team ethic was paramount. We had room 302 which we highly recommend. It has a distant harbour view and gets the sun most of the day. There is a small balcony to sit out on. St Peter Port has a wealth of good restaurants to choose from if you don't want to eat in the hotel every evening. We sampled Christies, Le Petit Bistro and the Boathouse. All were very good but booking ahead was advisable. Our only minor gripe was the lack of hotel car parking. On-street parking was OK but care was needed not to run out of limited parking time.
So to sum up-this hotel is a gem. And I thank Gareth and his team for providing us with an unforgettable week. We will definitely return.

5 star food & service from a 4 star hotel. Brilliant breakfasts. Will provide fresh milk for in-room tea/coffee facilities. Only detriment was a stiff walk back up the hill from the town. Not for the unfit, unless reliant upon taxis.

Booked a 3 night stay with my Mum. We were treated so well from check in to check out. Great breakfast. Lovely staff. Fantastic meal in restaurant on our last night. Totally recommend. Will stay here again if we come back to Guernsey

We have travelled a lot over the years, but never to Guernsey, so after some research we chose The Duke of Richmond, which had excellent reviews and also a special offer of 4 nights for 3, breakfast included, with a £50 meal discount voucher.
It is quite simply one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. Our room was beautifully furnished with crisp bed linen, soft fluffy towels, and all the amenities. The hotel is located in a peaceful green historic area, but as there is a steep hill down to the town we ate in the hotel each night, from a good choice of evening specials which we thoroughly enjoyed.
What really makes the hotel though is the staff, - all well trained, friendly, and keen to help. They work well as a team, and on our last morning Gareth, the general manager, was helping out with the breakfast service, and Anita, on reception, checked in our onward flights, and delivered boarding passes to our room.
We had a great time and can highly recommend this hotel.

Decided to go hear instead of fat rascals, as heard they are having troubling times. Was a very pleasant surprise, waiters were observant very quick, food very warm and good. Reasonable prices which are always a bonus!!

We were lucky to stay here for 5 nights. The hotel is well appointed, spottlessly clean & impressive inside. It's a 15ish min walk, a bit hilly, into town through the Candie gardens & there's a great little shop opposite. It's the staff that are all the cherry on the cake. The service from every single member of the team was amazing. Nothing was too much...more than excellent!

Our room was fairly small but had everything we needed. It was quite warm & took a while to get to grips with the air conditioning but was very comfortable when we did. The housekeeping team were fantastic we loved seeing what treat was left each night at turn down.

Breakfast was delicious & very high quality with so much choice. I loved the eggs royal...my husband loved the dukes special.

The weather was stunning when we first arrived so we could take advantage of the lovely outside space with beautiful views of the harbour. We had a quick swim in the outside pool (sign for the gate key at reception) which was quite a suntrap.

We would love to return one day. Thank you to each member of the hotel team for making our stay perfect.

I spent three nights at the Duke of Richmond where I was attending a conference. I found the hotel charming and comfortable with a personal touch. I was particularly impressed by the story of the Red Carnation chain of hotels founded by a visionary woman from South Africa and her husband whose family are committed to eco-tourism. The quality of the food was excellent and the staff, whether in the restaurant, bar or reception, were unfailingly courteous and helpful. The location is ideal, opposite a park with superb views of the harbour. One can walk down the hill to the high street and shops in about ten minutes. I would definitely like to stay there if I get another opportunity to visit Guernsey.

a lot to offer the seasoned traveler. Very comfortable bed, good bar, lovely pool and breakfast. The staff was very attentive and it was a lovely place to stay without the kiddos. I remember the first time we went into this place...it left a hold on me! Will stay again

Spent three nights here. The hotel is not much to look at from the outside, but is nice inside. Quirky decoration in the restaurant areas. Staff friendly and helpful and breakfasts excellent. Did not get around to sampling the evening menu.

Guernsey itself is a beautiful island with stunning scenery and very friendly locals.

We had a 5 night stay on holiday to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary and we couldn't have stayed anywhere more perfect. Everything was to the highest standard___from cleanliness, decor, beds etc. The breakfast,as so many people have said ,was superb. However what sets this hotel apart is the way the staff are so attentive and clearly strive for perfection. We are already looking forward to when we can make a return visit.

Spent 4 nights at the D.O.R last week for our first stay in Guernsey and the hotel was chosen based on the previous reviews. We were not dissapointed and everything from the initial welcome from reception to our return was fantastic. The staff were the friendliest we have ever experienced and nothing was too much trouble, special mention to Paul in the bar/restaurant. The decor throughout was stunning, loved the prints/posters on each floor. Last of all has to be the food, never had breakfasts of this quality, for any visitors try the Dukes special. Well done the Duke of Richmond.

My wife and I celebrated our silver wedding anniversary at the Duke of Richmond and had a wonderful stay. The staff were always pleasant, helpful and courteous, nothing was too much trouble. They complied with my request for flowers, and helped keep it a surprise for my wife. They even left us a selection of cakes and a card signed by all the staff.
Wouldn't hesitate in recommending the hotel, or staying there again.
Many thanks to all the staff for making our trip a memorable one, we just wished we could have stayed longer.

We stayed at the Duke of Richmond for 4 nights as a surprise for my husbands 65th birthday. We could not fault it. The staff are excellent and cannot do enough for you (i was in reception 1 day and heard them send out a member of staff to get a guest some nail varnish remover - surely above and beyond what should be expected!). The hotel itself is spotless and looks newly refurbished. There were lots of little touches like 3 jars of sweets left for guests (they went very quickly each day) and a free soft drink in reception. On my husbands birthday they delivered a card - signed by most of the team and a selection of small cakes. There is a quiet lounge as well as bar and restaurant and a glorious terrace (which was a great sun trap). It was too cold to use the pool but it looked very nice.
Breakfast was very good - with a good selection of cooked options as well as the continental options. The bar snacks are huge so we would share a steak baguette at lunchtime - it came with lovely fries so was more than enough for 2. The cream teas looked amazing but enormous.
Our room was a standard one but very nice with everything (including robe and slippers) that you could want and a nice fruit platter as a welcome gift.
The only word of caution I would give is that it is quite a steep climb up from St Peter Port - we walked in and back every day and in again in the evening but got a taxi back after our meal. The taxi's were quite reasonable - we got one from the taxi rank on the seafront and it was under £5 - it was a little more when they picked us up from a restaurant (£6 to £8). It was not a problem for us (and we are no spring chickens) but if you have a serious mobility problem and do not want to get a lot of taxis, I would contact the hotel (they are very helpful) to see what other options there are - I'm sure there are some but we did not ask.
We would definately stay here again if we go back to St Peter Port.

We had an enjoyable week at the D.O.R. Very comfortable room and staff were professional. Had expected to dine at the hotel more than we did but we found the menu a bit restricted - the food we had was good and there was Limited daily specials. There were several nice restaurants to try in St Peter’s Port but it was a bit of a drag back up the hill in the dark and we didn’t find it easy getting taxis. So, another time, we’d probably choose a hotel in the centre.

If you are looking for a 4star hotel which is good value for money, look no further.
We stayed for four nights at this wonderful hotel.
We were warmly greeted on arrival and the staff were so helpful throughout our stay.
We stayed in a standard room and it was spotlessly clean and so very comfortable and spacious.
The food in the restaurant was amazing. The breakfast menu was vast and everything we tried was delicious. In the evening, we can thoroughly recommend the rotisserie chicken. The staff in the restaurant worked so hard and everyone was polite and profressional, but a particular mention goes to Olga.
It is a lovely walk through Candie Gardens to the town.
This was our first trip to Guernsey but it will not be our last. We will not need to look for anywhere else to stay!

Stayed at the Duke of Richmond for three nights in May and was impressed with the hotel from the minute we arrived. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at and nearly all down to the quality of the staff - friendly, helpful and with the air of caring about their guests. The room itself was quite small but met our needs. Breakfast was superb with a good selection at a buffet as well as a vast cooked to order hot menu. We ate in the hotel restaurant one night during our stay, great food, great service and reasonable price (not budget but not extortionate). Slightly outside of the centre of St Peter Port and for those mobility challenged, a taxi would probably be required as the hotel is up quite a steep hill. Would absolutely recommend the Duke of Richmond and if we were visiting Guernsey again, would be looking to return.
