A bit too British. Staff is friendly and courteous. Great location on top of hill providing a great view of the port. My room oversees Castle Cornet. Walking distance to shopping street and esplanade. Wonderful. Just lovely hotel.

Stayed 4 nights in a harbour view with balcony which was lovely. Very roomy but couldn't get over the amount of furniture in the room! Bathroom a bit on the small size but all the amenities required were there.

Staff very helpful at all times. The wi-fi is so slow, so don't rely on it, this has been reviewed before but looks like nothing has been done about it. Some of the extras ordered before our arrival just did not materialise so why bother asking or at least explain why it did not happen.

To be picked up on arrival and returned to the airport would have been a nice touch but this is only included in certain packages. Something like this is standard with other 5 star hotels we have stayed in. After a very long journey a welcome drink would have been appreciated but again looks like you have to book a certain package to get a drink on arrival, very strange.

Breakfast very good with a vast choice to keep you going all day. We ate twice in the hotel in the evening, the Curry Club where there was only us which was disappointing. The food was very bland but our waitress Andra was wonderful. The Brasserie again, lacked atmosphere but at least we did try it. Too corporate for our liking.

Excellent gym and we both had a Swedish massage in the couples room which was superb, the best we have had in a long time and highly recommended.

Thought the OGH might be on par with the Oberoi hotels but sadly not. A few minor niggles as no place is 100% and definitely the only hotel to stay in whilst in Guernsey.

We were delighted by the welcome received at this hotel. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. As we arrived fairly early in the morning, the car was parked by the valet service (something we were most grateful for) our bags stored and we were given a tour of the hotel as it was our first visit. We were telephoned later in the day when the room was ready for occupation.
We ate in the Brasserie one evening and were delighted with both the meal and the service. There was a wonderful choice of fresh fruit to accompany breakfast but on a couple of occasions the cooked breakfast did not quite meet my expectations. One day it was not very hot and on another occasion there was a heap of streaky bacon instead of the back bacon as described on the menu. When this was pointed out, the same food was returned to me on a fresh plate, needless to say it was not eaten. I have been assured since, that this matter has been taken seriously and efforts will be taken to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
The bathroom was good with a fog free mirror which was most welcome. The toiletries, towels and robes and slippers were all of excellent quality.
It is a lovely hotel which I would have no hesitation in choosing for another stay in this beautiful island.

We have just returned from our anniversary weekend at the OGH. It was a 5 star experience from start to finish. We booked the Tennefest weekend break and it was amazing. We were picked up from the airport, enjoyed a delicious three course meal, with wine on our first evening.
The breakfast was outstanding, superb choice and extremely tasty.
It was our wedding anniversary and the hotel surprised us with a bottle of bubbly, chocolate dipped strawberries and chocolates. What really stands out in this hotel is the staff, nothing is to much trouble and the service is the best we have ever had on our travels.
We have no hesitation in highly recommending this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

We carefully chose our room via the website hoping for something special, for our first mummy and daddy only break away without children for quite some time. We opted for a seaview king room. We felt badly let down by its 'generous' size and that of the accompanying bathroom. It was almost impossible to use the toilet without first moving the toilet roll holder, and it all felt rather small and squashed in. Not what I expect when paying GBP275 per night.

We ate one night at La Nautica in St Peter Port - great fish restaurant and fabulous puddings. And another night we ate in the Curry Club. We had great and attentive service but the food was a let down. The lamb curry was tough and chewy and really didn't taste of much.

The people working in the hotel are all friendly and greeted us every time we saw one of them. We were pretty self sufficient in terms of concierge services as we were visiting relatives on the island, but the staff were happy to help with umbrellas when there was a downpour etc.

Breakfast was delicious and we were able to have an lovely lunch outside in the October sun.

We'd probably go back as we have relatives living on Guernsey and it is one of the best hotels on the island. However I'd check first on the size of room in context of the price being paid.

The title is taken directly from the hotel mantra on our room access card. We can assure you that this is what you can expect from your stay at this wonderful hotel. We were met at the airport by a warm and welcoming ‘Guernseyman’ and driven through the beautiful countryside by the private hire car arranged by the hotel. On arrival we were welcomed by name and upgraded, without request to sea view rooms. What a blissful start to our two short nights in this wonderful hotel. The hotel employees work as a team and made us feel so welcome, as if we spent two days every week with them. The effortless ambiance created by the staff are exemplary and could be down to excellent training, a faultless recruitment department or perhaps it is the personalities of the warm and quietly efficient lovely people who have chosen to work in this beautiful hotel. I don’t know, but I can assure you it works. ‘Generous hospitality and passionate service’ is what we had the pleasure of enjoying during our short stay. We will certainly return.

We booked an Expedia special offer that included flights from Southampton plus 2 nights and 3 days at OGH. Went October 1st to 3rd. Our first visit to Guernsey and we had no particular expectations and just went to enjoy ourselves. The hotel was lovely, very clean, friendly helpful staff and excellent breakfasts. Our room (209) was very comfortable and beautifully decorated with a very nice bathroom. The public rooms were gracious and it was a pleasure to sit in the various rooms and on the terrace to enjoy the ambiance. Great central location and altogether a very positive experience. Highlight of our trip was walking around Herm in lovely sunny weather.

Great staff very helpful and accommodating. The whole 3 night experience was let down completely on the last morning breakfast, the previous 2 breakfasts were 5 star plus, eggs Benedicte to die for, last one the "chefs" had 3 attempts at the Benedicte before I gave up in disgust. Not sure why they thought the plate it was served on should be scalding hot and the hollandaise sauce "cooked" on top of the eggs like a pancake with the eggs being hard, thought maybe the name "sauce" may have given it away. If this had been other than a 5* hotel charging best part of £200 per night b&b I may have understood their complete lack of culinary skills.
Be careful if they have a conference or large party on in the evening as the restaurant service deteriorates dramatically, as we found out one evening, again at £150 a couple for dinner that isn't really acceptable. That said the previous evening the dinner service was 5* +.
Poor room size and that with an upgrade to. Queen room. Double bed made with 2 single mattresses not the most comfortable.
Was it worth over £800 for 3 nights stay? Emphatically NO.

If you are looking to stay in a hotel where nothing is too much trouble for its staff, this hotel is the one for you. From the silent air conditioning in the luxurious bedroom to the sheltered pool area , you'll enjoy every moment of being looked after.
The hotel is perfectly situated five minutes from the ferry and buses nearby.Nice touches were the birthday cake delivered to our room just after our arrival and the hand made biscuits on departure. The hotel is part of the red carnation chain and we shall certainly look to stay at another of their hotels in the future.

a 5-star hotel but without all the aloofness of traditional business- class hotels. We were there on a private visit but, despite the presence of various business conferences, we felt very welcomed with personal service and attention to detail. Recommended.
