Stayed here last week - part business/part pleasure. Stayed in the Sark Suite with our 3 kids. Excellent accomodation. Really super. Hotel staff superb and very helpful. Had a meal here too - very good and lots of Bramble cocktails - also excellent!!! This is my 2nd stay here - I will be back!

Really is in a league of its own in Guernsey. Pricey, but you get what you pay for, faultless service and excellence across the board. Looking forward to my next stay.

Apparently the only 5 star hotel in the Channel Islands. It is a little bit above the others I have stayed. Service is very good. Quality of the room was excellent. The bed linen etc is faultless. Stayed one night and slept very well. Nice view of the sea and some of the other islands.
Like the rest of Guernsey it is not a particularly exciting place and the bar etc was closed at 12.30 on a Friday evening, although the night porter happily provided us with requested assortment of drinks and nibblies.
The layout internally is a little confusing and quirky but in a nice way.

A little more expensive than other hotels locally but worth it.

I have stayed in the OGH as it is affectionately known in Guernsey many times and feel thoroughly at home every time. It is art of the Red Carnation group which is an good reference in itself. Rooms, though small are well appointed. As a regular I was given room 107 which was more spacious than other rooms and offers something of a view over St Peter Port. Food is great, although the hotel is walking distance to town cntre which offers a wide variety of world class restaurants. For me the main selling point is the fact that the OGH has a weel equipped gym and a professional spa.

Very nice hotel. Stayed for three nights at one of their family-sized studio suites. Excellent service, very comfortable room and welcoming stuff. Food at both restaurants are very good, perhaps the best on the island. Good winelist very reasonably priced.

This is Guernsey's premier hotel by a long way and one of Europe's finest too. Having booked a cracking, out of season deal for three nights for the price of two we were made to feel valued guests from the moment we walked up the flight of old stone steps into reception.

This is a splendid building, a hotel since 1858 but, as the name suggests dating back to 1796 when it was the Governor of the island's residence. We were shown to the Herm suite on the first floor which is beautifully situated looking out to see and with every convenience you could wish for: free wi-fi, lots of storage, a four poster bed, big bathroom and shower room and comfortable furniture to sit and relax or work on. In short, five star luxury.

There are two restaurants: the Governors, a small, intimate affair with military prints on the walls and the larger, lighter brasserie where guests have breakfast. The food, like everything else we experienced here, is first class and the staff are only too pleased to help should you need advice on what wine to have or if you fancy something different.

There is also a separate lounge area for afternoon tea which is a splendidly old fashioned event with a huge array of different teas, beautifully prepared sandwiches and sumptuous cakes. The restaurants may have been quiet due to the time of year but tea was a sell out on all four days we were there.

The Old Government House Hotel is also a fantastic base from which to explore the island and there is a lot to see in Guernsey even though it is possible to drive around the perimeter in under two hours. Also the bulk of the attractions such as castle Cornet and some of the other historic sites do not open until April and close again in September.

However, whichever month you arrive the staff cannot do enough to help and will advise on whatever sight or event it is you want to enjoy. We did not use the hotel spa but I have no doubt that it was every bit as good as everything else was. If you are going to Guernsey there is nowhere better to stay and nowhere to be better looked after than at the OGH.

It is difficult, within the space of a short review, to encapsulate the experience at staying at this amazing hotel on the beautiful island of Guernsey. We visited for a weekend to celebrate a special birthday of my wife. I contacted the hotel some time ago to privately discuss some special arrangements to make this a unique occasion. It is here that I coin the phrase OMG! The manager and his dedicated, personable, and highly professional staff could not have made the weekend any better taking care of every last detail - it has been the most enjoyable holiday of our years together. A car to meet us at the airport with champagne served to us; roses petals in the shape of a heart on the bed for my wife; the exquisite experience of the Governor's Fine Dining restaurant with its quite remakable tasting menu of surprises........but above that is the friendly, charming, individual attention that ALL quests receive from a highly trained, respectful, understanding and caring staff. It is rare to find such an atmosphere in a hotel. Nothing is too much for the OGH - your every wish will be granted if it is humanly possible and practical. Our needs were not those of the over-demanding traveller but it is true to say that everyone is an individual at the OGH whether you are an islander enjoying a delightful afternoon tea, a visiting business person taking an important lunch with clients or you are us enjoying a refreshing and uplifting break. That's what makes the OGH, surely, one of the finest hotels in Europe. Our love affair with Guernsey and the OGH will certainly continue for many years.

We stayed at the OGH for 3 nights at the end of March. The room was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The service at the hotel was excellent and the staff could not do enough for you. The breakfast was of a high standard with very good choice of cereals, fruit and hot and cold food. It was a short walk down the hill to the centre of St Peter Port and the pretty harbour. Bus number 4 stops round the corner from the hotel and you can go all around the island on bus 7A for £1! An excellent restaurant is La Perla where you can get a 3 course meal for £10.99 and the food and service are both excellent

After a lovely walk around Guernsey we were treated to a beautiful and very reasonable afternoon tea at OGH! Staff were incredibly attentive and made us feel very relaxed. There was a choice of tea, which arrived in a traditional teapot with tea strainer. Shortly after the deluxe afternoon tea arrived. A delightful choice of freshly made sandwiches, beautiful cakes, warm Scones and hot cross buns we could not ask for more! I will definitely be returning to taste the scones again!
