Aunt Sally’s offer amazing Caribbean food from their restaurant and takeaway in Walsall. They have such a great range of dishes which will leave you wanting more!
I am a very fussy eater when it comes to dining out, hygiene and service is a paramount precondition, I chose Aunt Sally's from mixed reviews yet wanting to try for myself. Now let me make it clear, I can cook and dam good too, if i say so myself. My first and certainly not last; the cafe is clean with a calm soft ambiance, reggae tunes is playing to complete the Caribbean experience, a courteous service, and the most amazing food. We had Curried Mutton, (I would name it Curried Lamb) loads of it, great flavors, nice rich sauce, real tasty, served with lovely fluffy basmati rice and kidney peas. A fresh cut bowl of salad as an accompaniment. Absolutely nothing left on the plates. Also; Fried chicken done to perfection, crispy, tasty, finger licking with a bowl of special gravy to add to the dish. Again rice and peas and salad accompaniment. Now, hold your seat desert fans, I was going to have sweet potato cake, when Aunt Sally, ask if I like apple crumble with custard, that sounded yummy so I opt for it and still ordered the sweet potato cake. Now - it was served in a take out carton, which kind of made me a little apprehensive, but it looked scrumptious. The first spoonful was a head spinning experience, warm, crumbly the perfect balance of cinnamon and maybe a hint of nutmeg and vanilla, wow! wow!! wow!! THAT HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST APPLE CRUMBLE AND CUSTARD IN THE WORLD - it deserve to be served in the best fine bone Royal Doulton bowl. Last but not least they even altered the AC to make us more comfortable, now how can you beat that! Overall: Top Marks, a very good dining experience, well done to the cooks and staff.
