York's World Heritage bid
18th October 2013
... Comments

The bid is based upon the outstanding archaeological resources which lie both above and below ground in the city, after the last bid was turned down for being too narrow as it only focussed on the below ground sites.

The bid is made to the British Government who compile a shortlist of the contenders they feel would be the best choices to become a world heritage site. If York was able to become a world heritage site, the benifits would be far reaching and enormous. For one our already outstanding tourist trade would increase and would be more sustainable. Likewise these sites of hughe archaeological significance and beauty would be safeguarded and preserved for all generations.

When the next bid comes in, we want thebestofyork widely encourage all of York to get behind this campaign.
