Fact number 1. Did you know that Harry Potter and the philosophers stone had a scene shot in York? At the station when Hagrid walks Harry to platform 9 and 3/4

Fact number 2. York's roman name is EBORACUM and the Vikings called us JORVIK

Fact number 3. Clifford's Tower was named after Roger de Clifford... He was hanged there in 1322

Fact number 4. Did you know that Lancelot Blackburne, Archbishop of York from 1724 to 1743, served as a pirate in the Caribbean in his younger days even though he was already ordained by then? So yes we had our own jack sparrow as archbishop, and people say john Sentamu is controversial.

Fact number 5. Did you know that a law still apparently on the statue books that makes it legal to shoot a Scotsman in York? But only with a bow and arrow and definitely not on Sundays.
