What’s in a name?
Everything – if the buzz around Tom Pitman’s 96 Clothing is any indication. It’s “the clothing brand of Wrexham”, says Amanda Wynne Evans of thebestof Wrexham.
Tom, a second-year student at Yale College, started the 96 Clothing brand in June of this year. It’s fast becoming a Wrexham cult following with punters eager to get their hands on one of Tom’s trendy creations.
Now that the website is LIVE, with an online order shop (and free shipping too!), we expect to see these tees all over Wrexham in the coming weeks. Tom has built an enviable social media campaign – with close to 1500 likes on Facebook and over 900 followers on Twitter. The anticipation has been building for the launch of the website and the new range of tees – just in time for the Christmas shopping hype.
Tom is just 17 and when another local young entrepreneur spoke to students at Yale last year about his successes, it was the catalyst for Tom to make real his own business dream and the brand was conceived. Simple but effective, 96 is the year of Tom’s birth. Through his part time job, he saved enough money to invest in his business idea and hasn’t looked back.
His profile was raised further when “Wrexham Says Hello” approached him to supply and print their Tidy La’ t-shirts for their recent campaign. These t-shirts are still available to order through his website.
The 96 Clothing tees come in 4 designs and 4 colours at the moment. Each costs £12.00 (free shipping) and 10% of each sale goes to the James Bulger Memorial Trust. Tom is a budding entrepreneur with a keen sense of social responsibility.
In addition to the tees, the brand currently has iphone cases and hoodies. Businesses and groups can have their own logo designed and printed on t’shirts for events and marketing purposes.
What’s next for Tom? The growth of 96 Clothing may determine whether next year is a gap year or enrolment in University. But, whatever the future holds, Wrexham has spawned yet another young entrepreneur who is determined to make his mark in business.
You can support Tom and 96 Clothing through FB and Twitter as well as ordering from his new website. Spread the word – it’s Wrexham’s newest clothing brand.
