Tom James MBE, who won a second Olympic Gold Medal for rowing at the London 2012 Olympics and recently received the prestigious Freedom of Wrexham Borough has thrown his support behind Wrexham’s exciting new community youth initiative.

DRAGONSONG – the Wrexham Youth Choir is looking for new members between the ages of 13 and 18 for the launch rehearsal on 16th October, and Tom James takes up the position of Patron with immediate effect.

Asked about his patronage of the choir, Tom said, “"This is a great chance for the younger generation to get involved in something new and rewarding. There's a strong history of great choirs and singers that come from Wales, so I'd strongly encourage parents and children to come and visit Central Station on the 16th Oct and see for yourselves what a fantastic opportunity Dragonsong is.

I'd like to thank the committee and other supporters for putting their own time and energy in to this initiative. This is a great example of local people and businesses putting something back in to the Wrexham community. I wish our fantastic Musical Director, Charlotte Jones, and the new choir the best of luck and I look forward to hearing the results."

Choir Chairman, Andy Fergus, added, “For a new community initiative such as Dragonsong to receive the support of such a prestigious Patron is tremendous honour, and we sincerely hope that Tom’s involvement will inspire our young members and help raise awareness of this exciting opportunity.”
