"Dear Colleague,

I am writing to ask for your help with the 'Purple Angel' Campaign to make Wrexham a 'Dementia Friendly' town. This campaign provides a free information and advice poster about dementia, which is relevant for anyone who has to face dealings with the public. If you wish, a 'Purple Angel' sticker for your door or window is also available, to show that staff have been made aware of the service.

I am hoping to encourage the majority of shops and services in Wrexham to support the 'Purple Angel' campaign and would like to invite you to a half hour presentation where the advice posters and stickers will be made available. There are two sessions are you are warmly invited to attend whichever is most convenient to you.

1. Wednesday 21 May at 5.30pm. Venue: Meeting Room 1, Wrexham Guildhall.
2. Thursday 22 May at 2.30pm. Venue: Lifestyle Bar coffee shop at Coleg Cambria (formerly Yale COllege).

Dementia is not limited to very elderly, frail people in care homes. Many people with dementia are now caring for themselves. They may be out and about in Wrexham, with or without support, and will be coming into contact with your members of staff. Wrexham has always had the reputatuon of being a friendly, tolerant and welcoming town and it would be wonderful if we could achieve 'Dementia Friendly' status. I hope you will be able to attend the event and look forward to hearing from you.

Please reply to Isobel Garner, Town Centre Manager on isobel.garner@wrexham.gov.uk with the event you wish to attend.

Yours sincerely,

Ian Lucas
Member of Parliament for Wrexham"
