During June, Nightingale House in Wrexham are encouraging the town’s general public, businesses and schools to Go Yellow for a good cause. This month-long event is designed to raise awareness about the Hospice and give people the chance to have some fun and raise money at the same time.

The colour yellow’s been chosen as the sunflower is the national emblem for hospices across the UK. And Go Yellow is a chance for the people of Wrexham to show off their creativity as well as their generosity.  It could be through something as simple as holding a Wear Yellow day at work where employees pay £1 to wear yellow for the day. Or why not have an afternoon tea party with yellow themed food? Other ideas include a Yellow Dance or workout session, Yellow Brick Mile – a mile walk with family and friends, dying your hair yellow or even holding a sponsored custard-pie throw!  It doesn’t matter – as long as it involves yellow and lots of fun.

It will cost £2.54m to cover the Hospice’s running costs in 2012. That’s the equivalent of £7000 per day. Funding received from the local Health Board enables it to run for just 69-days. The other 296 have to be funded by donations. Nightingale House do not charge for their services, to either patients or their relatives, and rely on the generosity of the local community to continue to function 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year.

So Go Yellow this June for Nightingale House in Wrexham. And help brighten up lots of people’s lives. They really do need your support.
