The uplifting sounds and rhythms of Africa will come to Lancing when The Boundstone Chorus, Sompting Village Primary School and Call Me Al Jazz Quintet join forces to perform Zimbe! Come sing the songs of Africa.
This vibrant community concert brings together adult and young voices with a live jazz ensemble for an evening of energetic choral music inspired by African traditions. The hugely popular 40-minute work by British composer Alexander L’Estrange blends traditional African songs with jazz and is scored for adult choir, unison children’s choir and jazz quintet.
“Zimbe! is full of colour, rhythm and joy, and it is wonderful to bring singers of different ages together for this performance. We hope the audience will enjoy an exciting and uplifting evening of music,” said Mattea Leow, Associate Musical Director who will conduct the Zimbe! performance.
