Small Ready To Strike The Topcats

After leading Worthing to a 81-77 victory over current league champions Bristol last week, Canadian shooting guard Courtney Small will be out to prove that his 25 point feat was no fluke when his side entertain Brixton Topcats this Saturday.

Worthing have won their first two games since returning to the EBL from the BBL and with another tough encounter coming in the form of the illustrious Brixton side, the same team that produced Chicago Bulls and Great Britain superstar Luol Deng, Small has instead placed the focus on him and his team-mates.

“It’s going to be the same as every other game I’m going to play, I try not to give my opponents too much thought and think about myself and my team-mates,” Small explained.

“For me, I’m going to play my game and work hard defensively, and along with my team-mates, we should get the result we want.”

Courtney was one of the first Thunder signings to settle into life in West Sussex during the off-season and despite having moved home from Bognor Regis to Worthing, the 6’3 guard is enjoying the experience.

“Worthing’s pretty cool, I’m enjoying my experience and making the most of every opportunity,” Small said. “I’m loving my team-mates, they are extremely cool and once we start gelling more as a team, it’s going to be extremely hard to beat us.”

Worthing Thunder host Brixton Topcats this Saturday. A game that will tip-off at the later time of 8pm. Doors open at 6.10pm.
