The Upbeat Beatles (July 15, 7.45pm) Worthing Pavilion Theatre
The Average White Band’s lead singer leads The Upbeat Beatles in Worthing.
The Upbeat Beatles, who boast a lead singer who has written music for rock stars and featured in a film alongside Ringo Starr, perform their own tribute to The Fab Four at Worthing’s Pavilion Theatre on Sunday July 15.
Set in 1963 when The Beatles’ blend of blues, Motown and rock ‘n’ roll was revolutionising the British music scene, The Upbeat Beatles combine live vocals and music to re-create the harmonies made famous by The Beatles.
The Upbeat Beatles have performed in front of diverse audiences including the Jordanian royal family, Hollywood actor Michael Douglas and the premier of China.
John Wilson who plays Paul McCartney was lead singer and writer with The Dodgers before becoming lead singer and co-writer with The Average White Band. He starred in Willy and the Poor Boys with Ringo Starr, members of The Who and of the Rolling Stones. He has also written songs for Sir Cliff Richard, Bill Wyman and Status Quo.
John is joined by Roger Channing who plays John Lennon and was the former lead singer for international band Hot Stuff, Colin Yates who plays George Harrison and Paul Jarrett as Ringo Starr.
John Wilson says, “We really tear it up. Expect to have a sing and a dance to A Hard Day’s Night, Twist and Shout and She Loves You before we play a few other classics like Let It Be and Hey Jude.”
