The Intimate Rat Pack (July 8, 7.45pm) Worthing Pavilion Theatre

Start spreading the news, new intimate Rat Pack show visits Worthing.

The Rat Pack is Back star David Alacey returns to Worthing with a new intimate version of the Rat Pack show starring Inside Out’s Paul Drakeley and EastEnders’ Des Coleman.

The Intimate Rat Pack is set at 2am in the Copa Room of the Sands Casino after a Rat Pack show. The intimate gatherings were renowned as small groups of friends, musicians and showgirls who would often perform through into the morning.
The show has been performed across the country including at London’s Leicester Square Theatre, The 02 Arena and as part of a Royal Command Performance.  It has been designed to reflect the style and excitement of the exclusive evenings in Las Vegas, featuring classics such as My Way, Amore and Mr Bojangles with musical director Don Hunt leading the cast and his own Don Hunt Band.

David Alacey, who reprises his long-term role as Frank Sinatra in the latter part of his career, is known for producing accurate imitations of Ol’ Blue Eyes’ classic hits. He says: “Performing New York, New York is second nature to me. In the 15 years I’ve been playing Sinatra, I’ve sung it live more than 1,500 times.  It was recorded in 1980 when Frank would have been 65 years old. There needs to be subtle changes to the phrasing to his earlier recordings to ensure you create an authentic version of the song.”

Des Coleman, who is known for his role as Lenny in EastEnders, takes to the stage alongside David in the role of Sammy Davis Jnr and Paul Drakeley plays Dean Martin.

Musical director and band-leader Don Hunt has joined the cast with a background that includes working with Anthony Newley, Elaine Paige and Matt Monro as well as being Sir Bruce Forsyth's musical director for over thirty years and working with Sammy Davis Jnr on two of Bruce’s TV specials.

The show uses a selection from over 150 world-famous Rat Pack songs to create an evolving and spontaneous set-list, taking requests from the audience, just as the original Rat Pack did during their evenings in the Copa Room.
