Riders Get Set For South Downs Way

On the 12th and 13th November 2011 whilst you are sitting back and enjoying a lazy weekend a team will be getting on their bikes and heading off on their 108 mile journey across the Southdowns Way.

Not only are they cycling 108 miles all the way from Winchester to Eastbourne but many people don't realise that across this distance the total ascents are 3,555 meters over 3 times higher than Snowdon from sea level!

The team, consisting of Mark Price from MK Windows, Darren Ford from Affordable Security, Darren Crabb of St James Place and Terry Bedford will be putting themselves through the paces in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Every day 6 teenagers hear the words “You have Cancer”. If you’re a teenager and unlucky enough to be diagnosed with cancer, chances are you’ll receive treatment on a ward with very young children or elderly patients.

The Teenage Cancer Trust work to help young people have a better chance in their fight against cancer by caring for them in an environment which is tailored to their needs. All money raised from the ride will go towards funding and building specialist units for young people within NHS Hospitals ensuring that both them and their family receive the best possible care and professional support.

We wish them all the best in both their fundraising and the preparation for the ride!

If you would like to donate money to this fantastic cause please click here to visit their Just Giving page. Don’t forget that for every pound raised St James Place have kindly offered to match it and donate the money to one of their chosen charities.
