News from Adur and Worthing councils - New broom sweeps clean!

Local resident, Simon Redhead, has been sweeping up autumn leaves every year in Westcourt Road and Pembury Road to help keep his corner of Worthing clean and tidy from leaves, and this year is no exception!

Simon is just one of many ‘Neighbourhood Champions’ across Adur and Worthing who volunteer to keep their local areas free from rubbish. Simon approached Adur and Worthing council services to see if he could get a new broom after his broom wore out and of course we said yes!

Worthing’s cabinet members for the environment, Clive Roberts said: “I have a lot of respect for residents like Simon who give up their time to help our cleansing team keep Worthing clean and tidy.  By keeping his small area free of leaves he is allowing our cleansing team to focus on more heavily trafficked and higher profile parts of the town.  His pride in his part of Worthing is admirable and I hope others follow his lead.”

All ‘Neighbourhood Champion’ initiatives are part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
