Sophie is a 5 year old little girl from Angmering who has Cerebral Palsy. She has been in and out of the press since her struggle to get surgery began, For most of Sophie’s life, the only way she could get around was by wheelchair. Her family and friends and the local community spent a year raising £40.000 to send Sophie to America to see Dr Park, a leading surgeon in Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, which was to release the spasticity in her legs.
Now that she has had her main surgery to relieve the symptoms of Cerebral palsy and enable her to stand without a frame, she can now even to take steps without support which takes continuing physiotherapy. Sophie still has a long way to go and everyday a new challenge but she is well on her way to achieving her dreams... she wants to dance.
Sophie now needs fundraising to be able to go to America and have her physiotherapy to help strengthen her ankles and her feet. The trip to America will determine if she will need more operations to help her to stand more comfortably.
The big community fundraising event of the year is a sponsored Zumbathon!!!
Run and sponsored by Esporta professional dance tutors get your friends together and join the fun with Zumba (a new form of dance the adults and children adore) Adults can be sponsored for 1 or 2 hours and children can be sponsored for taking part at a small donation of £5 per adult and £2.50 per child. When you register you recieve a free Sophie pack!
There will be free entrance to the ground on the day where you can enjoy a fun family day out of a bouncy castle, BBQ , Ice cream van and arena displays. The club house will also be open with a fully liscensed bar and a variety of stalls from local people and much more.
