Heroes Welcome in Sunny Worthing

THE WELCOME mat has been put out in Worthing for armed forces personnel.

The Heroes Welcome scheme gives businesses the opportunity to indicate a warm welcome, special acknowledgement or in some cases a discount to serving or former armed services personnel and their families.

More than 50 towns and cities have already signed up and Worthing would now like to show its appreciation for all members, and former members, of the armed forces acknowledging what they are doing or have done for our country.

Businesses will be asked to join up and offer a smile and friendly welcome to current and ex-servicemen and those wishing to show support to our armed forces will display a sticker in their window.

The Worthing Town Centre Initiative heard about the scheme from Tim Loughton MP, Member of Parliament for East Worthing and Shoreham, and after finding out more about Heroes Welcome wanted to make sure that Worthing businesses were given the opportunity to show their support.

Sharon Clarke, Worthing Town Centre Manager says “Sunny Worthing always offers a warm welcome but this scheme helps businesses to show their appreciation to members of the armed services and the sacrifices they make for us.”

The first business to sign up for the scheme in Worthing was Andy Sparsis, owner of Food in New Street and The Fish Factory in Brighton Road who was presented with his sticker on 16th September 2011.

If your business wants to sign up to make Heroes Welcome please get in contact with the Worthing Town Centre Initiative on 01903 203252 or speak to one of the Town Centre Rangers on their patrols.
