Crawley employees get dizzy!

UK Diabetes Week is an initiative run by Diabetes UK between 12th and 18th June to raise awareness and funds for diabetes.

Employees of leading pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, based in Crawley, have been celebrating UK Diabetes Week by raising funds for local diabetes social enterprise, dizzy.

Today a cheque for £1,230 was presented by Viggo Birch, Managing Director, on behalf of the Novo Nordisk Crawley employees, to Jools Chaffer, Director and co-founder of dizzy. Jools was also presented with a clothing collection for the dizzy retail outlets, generously donated by the Novo Nordisk employees.

Jools Chaffer commented “Diabetes is the major health issue in the UK today and for the foreseeable future; totally disrupting lives and causing more deaths than cancer.  At dizzy we are passionate about promoting awareness of diabetes in the South East and as a small social enterprise this donation means so much for us and the work we do”.

Viggo Birch, Managing Director of Novo Nordisk UK/Ireland, commented “as the UK’s leading diabetes care company, our employees know only to well the effects this disease has on individuals and their families. The work dizzy is undertaking in highlighting diabetes and working towards improving the lives of people with diabetes is totally aligned with our own aspirations and I want to personally congratulate them for this”.

Employees at the Novo Nordisk UK headquarters based in Crawley, selected dizzy as the social enterprise that they wanted to support earlier this year and this donation in Diabetes Week is a culmination of their efforts.
