Christmas is coming to Worthing...

This year will see a Christmas Extravaganza in Worthing making it the place to visit for shopping along the South Coast.  The festivities will kick off with the Countdown to Christmas event, in South Street Square, over the weekend of 24th and 25th November 2012.  Shoppers will have the opportunity to be entertained by some of this year’s pantomime stars, take part in some fun and games as well as seeing the 2012 Christmas Lights.

On Saturday 24th November there will be entertainment on the Town Centre stage in South Street Square from 12pm to 5pm with “Mr Worthing” Dave Hunt compering the show.  There will be competitions and games, balloon modelling, a magician show and an opportunity to see some of this year’s Panto Stars.  The finale will be an amazing Firework from Worthing pier at 5.45pm and we are being promised by Selstar Fireworks that this will be a display not to be missed !  To coincide with the Christmas event the Worthing Town Centre Initiative will be offering parking at just 10p per hour, maximum stay 4 hours, at the Civic Centre Car Park in Stoke Abbott Road (behind the Town Hall).

On Sunday 25th November from 11.30am to 3.30pm “Mr Worthing” Dave Hunt will be back and this time he may bring some of his vinyl!  There will be choirs and singers helping shoppers to get into the festive spirit.  Keeping Dave company in South Street Square will be 3 of Santa’s reindeer and you never know there may be an appearance from the man himself!!

On 13th and 20th December many of the Town Centre shops will be extending their opening hours to allow some more time for shoppers to find those all-important gifts!  NCP are offering a special parking deal for Late-night shoppers; park in one of the multi-storey Car Parks after 4pm and pay just £1 per hour with a maximum charge of £3 so why not make an evening of it and stay for something to eat or drink after you finish shopping!

The weekly Wednesday Market will provide an opportunity for some additional gift inspirations and the Artisans Market will move to Montague Street on Sunday 22nd December for some last minute shopping.

If you are looking for something a little different then remember that Worthing has some fantastic independent traders and taking time to explore the West End of Montague Street, Warwick Street, The Guildbourne Centre, The Royal Arcade, Portland Road, Bath Place and Montague Place is a must not only for lovely shops but also great places to eat and drink.  This year it’s more important than ever to support your local traders !

The Worthing Town Centre Initiative will be offering parking in the Civic Centre Car Park in Stoke Abbott Road (behind the Town Hall) on Saturday 15th and 22nd December at just 10p per hour with a maximum stay of 4 hours – what a Christmas present 4 hours parking for just 40p !

Worthing really is the place to be for Christmas 2012.
