During the year which marks the 20th anniversary of both the Premier League and publication of Nick Hornby’s best-selling book Fever Pitch, Paul Hodson’s acclaimed adaptation is brought back to the stage for the first time in 10 years.

From the rootlessness of 60s suburbia and through the Highbury turnstiles, Nick Hornby was instantly fixated with Arsenal Football Club. The book and play are his tale of family, football, class, identity and joy.

Harking back to the days when football was the people’s game rather than the plaything of corporate sponsors, Fever Pitch is a timely reminder of the ‘old days’ of the beautiful game. The play follows Nick along his journey from being a young boy, taken to Highbury for the first time by his dad, through adolescence and on into adulthood, with every moment measured against Arsenal fixtures.

James Kermack takes the lead role in the true story of what it is to be a fan. Football supporters will recognise themselves in Nick, regardless of their team allegiance. Their friends and families will recognise them too, and after seeing the play may even understand them a little better.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the book which changed people’s attitudes towards the national game, Fever Pitch promises 45 minutes each way of fast, funny, exhilarating theatre.
