Worthing Thunder Sign Amaro Frangkiskos
Worthing Thunder Basketball Club are pleased to announce the signing of Greek power forward Amato Frangkiskos for the 2011/2012 EBL Division One season.
Frangkiskos, who stands 6’7 comes from Greek A2 side, Near East, recording an impressive average of 10.2 points and 7.3 rebounds a game, while shooting 56% from the field last season.
The Club are delighted to welcome Amato for the upcoming season. Worthing Thunder Chairman, Frank Gainsbury said: “We are delighted to have captured Amato to play for us this season. This is an excellent signing for the Club and we are sure that Amato will fit in well with the squad.
“Having played in the Greek A2 league last season it is evident that we have signed a player with a wealth of top class experience and we look forward to him joining up with us for the new season.”
Along with playing for Worthing Thunder this season, Amato will also be studying English at Brighton University in September.
Frangkiskos will make his debut for Thunder on the 10th September against BBL side Guildford Heat in a pre-season friendly at the Worthing Leisure Centre, tip-off at 7.30pm.
