So far 83 brave souls have signed up to join us in this year's Sponsored Sleepout. We will be spending Saturday night outside, hopefully with a view of the stars as cold is so much easier to deal with than wet!
The money raised will help Worthing Churches Homeless Projects continue to provide their services, making our town a better place to live.
This morning 15 homeless or insecurely housed people visited our day centre for advice and supoport. Some had a hot breakfast, others a shower and obtained a change of clothes, for some it is just to get somewhere safe and warm for a few hours. The day centre is open every day of the year providing a vital lifeline of support for those living on the streets. From there we can work with them, get them into one of our hostels and eventually into their own accommodation. Every night there are up to 56 peole in our accommodation.
As you go to bed tonight, think for one moment what it is like for those people forced to sleep out on the streets, in the cold, wet, noise, dirt, with no where safe to store their belongings. Consider the effect this has on their minds and how they feel. Together we can show them that the people of Worthing do care and are there to help them. Thank you for your continued support!
