Bob Smytherman - Official Town Crier for Worthing

Earlier in 2014, Worthing Town Centre Initiative decided to re-introduce the role of town crier to Worthing with the aim of boosting tourism, events and activities.

Worthing last had a town crier nearly twenty five years ago when Philip Holliday hung up his bell in the mid 1990’s after being appointed to civic office in 1980.

The town is now delighted to welcome new town crier - Bob Smytherman (#cooltowncrier) who brings colour and style to every public announcement, function, event and occasion.

Who Is Bob Smytherman?

During 2013 and 2014, Bob Smytherman was Mayor of the Borough of Worthing and his friendly, approachable manner and responsiveness to Social Media brought him popularity to people of all ages.

Now known as #cooltowncrier, Bob brings fun and entertainment to the role and most importantly he makes a real difference to Worthing wherever he goes.
