Thousands of students in Wolverhampton are due to find out what grades they have achieved when A-level and T-level results are published on Thursday (13 August), followed by GCSE results next Thursday 20 August.

Councillor Jacqui Coogan, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: "I'd like to wish everyone collecting their GCSE, A-level and other results the very best of luck.

“I hope they achieve the outcomes they were hoping for and are looking forward to the next stage of their learning journey, whether that is going on to college or university, taking up an apprenticeship or entering the world of work and training.

“We've seen really positive results at both GCSE and A-level in Wolverhampton over the last decade or so, and we’re hoping for another good set of outcomes this year which will reflect the hard work of students and their teachers.

"This progress is also reflected in our schools' Ofsted outcomes, with more than 90% of schools inspected in the last year either achieving strong outcomes or meeting the expected standard across the areas assessed. That's a real credit to pupils, teachers, school leaders and everyone involved in education across Wolverhampton."

There are lots of options available for young people whether their exam results are as they expected, are better or are not quite as good as they hoped they would be.

These include going on to college or university – with places for the latter available through the Clearing process for students who either haven't got the required grades or who have changed their mind about the course or university they want – along with becoming an apprentice or entering the world of work.

Councillor Coogan added: “If you haven't quite decided what to do next, don't panic – there are plenty of doors open to you, and plenty of support out there to help you make the right choice including from your school, sixth form or college, Connexions Wolverhampton or Wolves Workbox."

Connexions Careers Advisers are available to offer impartial careers advice to young people in Wolverhampton after receiving results, and will be attending as many of local schools as possible on GCSE results day.
