The Children's Library will temporarily close from 2pm tomorrow (Saturday 31 October, 2026) to allow the improvements to take place. The refurbished space is expected to reopen in time for Christmas.

The works will include redecoration, new flooring, and the installation of new shelving and furniture, creating a cleaner, brighter and more modern environment where children can enjoy reading, learning and taking part in activities.

While the work takes place, a limited Children's Library will continue to be available on the first floor. Popular activities including the Chatterbooks Reading Group, Saturday Storytime and Lego Club will continue as normal. For more information, please contact the library on 01902 552026.

Councillor Obaida Ahmed, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: "Our libraries play a vital role in supporting children and families, and in helping to foster a lifelong love of reading at an early age.

"These improvements will create a brighter, more welcoming and accessible place where children and young people can enjoy books, take part in activities and spend quality time with their friends and family.

"I'd like to thank customers for their patience while the improvements are completed, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the refreshed Children's Library as soon as possible."
