A care home in Woking is embracing the yuletide season by opening its doors for a special reminiscence event. Greenview Hall, on Streets Heath in West End, is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members for a carolling performance on Monday 15th December at 2.30pm–4:30pm.

The event is part of Care UK’s ‘Step into Christmas’ initiative, which aims to rekindle festive customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community.

On the day, Greenview Hall’s very own singing group, made of residents and team members, will be bringing the Christmas cheer by performing a host of traditional festive songs.

Guests will also be treated to seasonal food and drink, specially prepared by the home’s chef.

Resident Thelema Newing said: “I am really excited for the Christmas event, singing traditional Christmas carols brings back memories of when me and my children would attend church and sing together. It makes me feel very nostalgic.”

Meera Govindapillai, General Manager at Greenview Hall, said: “Christmas is such a special time of year and this carol singing event allows us to honour memories from residents’ childhoods, bringing them to life once again.

“This is also a wonderful opportunity to unite the community, celebrate the season and pass on traditions that may otherwise be forgotten.

“We’d like to encourage locals to join us to celebrate the festive season and bring the memories of Christmas past to Woking.”
