With festival season officially under way, a care home in Surrey is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.   On Wednesday 5th August at 1pm, Care UK’s Orchard Manor, on Chertsey Road, will open it's doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.   Visitors to the home can look forward to sampling a selection of residents' favourite cuisines and dishes from around the world, all prepared by the homes’ head chefs using local ingredients.   The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and share what life in a care home is really like.   Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.   Jamila Faerber, Home Manager at Orchard Manor, said: “Our food festival events offer a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the rich diversity of cultures within the home while sharing favourite childhood traditions and recipes with the local community.    “Food plays an important part in all of our lives, and there’s something special about the way it can evoke happy memories and emotions. That’s why sharing family recipes and favourite dishes is so meaningful for residents here.    “We look forward to welcoming the Surrey community for what promises to be a fantastic week of food, culture and connection.”      To find out more about A Taste of Home, please visit: careuk.com/a-taste-of-home   Each home offers full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The homes incorporate plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities, while the layout of the buildings are configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.    For more information, go to careuk.com/surrey
