Thursday 18 April 2013, 2.30pm, 7.30pm Light Cinema, New Brighton Filmed entirely in Liverpool, the film follows the fortunes of three Liverpool waiters working on luxury liner the Mauritania, as they jump ship and wind up working for infamous gangster Al Capone in Chicago.

The film features performances by Ricky Tomlinson (Brookside, Cracker, The Royle Family), Marc Warren (Hustle, The Vice), Ralf Little (The Royle Family, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps) and Stephen Lord (East Enders, Casualty, Shameless).

Al’s Lads was premiered by BAFTA at Cannes, and the film has subsequently been sold to over 22 countries worldwide.

These exclusive screenings will be hosted by Saul Murphy, who will introduce the film and chair Q&As with Marc Gee immediately afterwards.

This is an exciting opportunity for the the Light Cinema to showcase homegrown work. After the unprecedented success of the Light Cinema’s screenings of Ealing Studio film The Magnet (filmed in 1950s New Brighton) there seems to be a thirst for film with a local connection. With Al’s Lads we are very fortunate in having the writer available to talk about the creation of the screenplay and its transformation to screen. Jane Woodason, Education & Events Manager

The films will be screened in Studio 1 – an intimate ground floor screen, with a versatility and informality that we hope will encourage lively discussion.

We expect these events to be the first of many curated screenings, with introduction and post show Q&As. We hope to build a lively and informal Thursday night film club – led by a loyal and enthusiastic audience.

Like all our screens, Studio 1 is licensed - and customers are invited to purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snack from the Light Café Bar and take them into the screen to enjoy during and after the film.

Keep in touch for more information – and don’t forget to share your ideas for future screenings: jane.woodason@lightcinemas.co.uk

Tickets may be purchased in person from the Light Cinema, or online at www.lightcinemas.co.uk

We look forward to seeing you at the Light Cinema soon.
