Most people would like to shop locally more often, but in reality many still head elsewhere for their shopping. Why is this? What is missing or lacking about our local high streets? If we can't answer these important questions then how can we possibly get the message across to planners, local authorities or our politicians about what we need them to do?

Within many local communities there have been debates over cost and availability of parking, high street cleanliness, pedestrian access and reliability of public transport. At thebestof, we think it's time that people’s opinions about buying locally were voiced and listened to. What exactly needs to be done to ensure local people are spending their money with local businesses? After all, it’s great local businesses that keep the economy going even through the tough times of recent months, that always go the extra mile for their customers, support our local communities and shape the very character of our area.

To help answer these questions, thebestof want to know what you think about local businesses. The latest and very exciting initiative from thebestof, named ‘Buy Local’ is calling all local people to show their support for much loved local businesses and join the campaign to encourage shopping and spending locally. You can now help to support local businesses and share your valuable opinion by taking part in our online survey, which can be found on our home page. Even better, if you take part in the survey you'll be in with a chance of winning a £500b prize!
