Visitors to Westminster can discover more about London's famous markets on special guided walks with author Sandra Shevey.

These charming markets celebrate the city's culture and diversity in a constantly changing landscape. The walks are held on a daily basis, starting at 11am and markets include Covent Garden, Spitalfields-Petticoat / Brick Lanes, Southall Asian Market, Whitechapel East End, Borough Market, Bell and Church Streets.

Sandra Shevey is best known for her Hollywood biographies (The Marilyn Scandal and The Other Side Of Lennon) and her 1972 interview with film director Alfred Hitchcock. She is a firm believer in the concept of "writing about what you know" and used her love of tourism, walking and London to begin tours of the city's markets.

The tour features literary and film accounts, photos, prints and memoirs to give participants a sense of the London Markets fascinating past. Sandra is a mine of knowledge along the tour as she originated the London Markets socio-historical overview. Markets are an integral part of social activity and gathering in many communities, they are so much more than just a place to buy and sell.

The cost of the London Walk is £25 excluding Travelcard Zones (1 and 2).
