The annual Willow 10K is a popular event for seasoned runners, complete beginners and power walkers alike, this year it takes place on Sunday 2 October at Hatfield House and  includes a shorter 5K route and a 1K Junior Race for the first time.  The event raises funds for Hertfordshire based charity, Willow – the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days.

There’s something for everyone on the rural race route which starts and finishes in full view of the regal Hatfield House.  The Willow 10K provides an exclusive opportunity to see hidden parts of the picturesque Hatfield House estate not normally open to the public.

Family-friendly event

This year’s 10K promises to be another great event, with places still available.  Every runner will be timed and receive a medal as they cross the finish line. There will be an energetic warm-up and live music all making for a fun and motivating atmosphere.  The free kids dash and runners’ village which includes refreshment, face painting and much more provides entertainment for spectators who are supporting friends and family, plus Hatfield House Stable Yard is close by with its wonderful cafe and shops.

Willow is a national charity based in Hertfordshire, it was founded by former Arsenal goalkeeper and TV presenter, Bob Wilson and his wife, Megs, Willow is a lasting memorial to their daughter, Anna, who died of cancer aged 31. Anna’s love of life and the enriching experiences of her own Special Days were the charity’s inspiration.
