Feel Good By Doing Good

Sign up to  ‘Love Thy Neighbour’ during the 40 days of Lent (the six weeks before Easter),and you can feel good by doing good - and raise much-needed funds to help

YMCA Central Herts continue its work within our local community.

It’s simple you have two choices…

You can either perform one good deed a day throughout Lent and ask whoever you help to donate a pound. That could be washing your Dad’s car, carrying your neighbour’s shopping, cooking dinner for the family or taking Grandma out at the weekend.

Once you have registered we’ll email you every day from the first day of Lent (Wednesday 17th February) with ideas to keep you doing good deeds for 40 days!

Alternatively you can choose to  donate £1 for every day that you successfully give something up – chocolate, smoking, beer, swearing, nagging the kids, irritating your colleagues with the football results - or anything else you want to give up for Lent.

You and your good deed recipients can donate online or simply collect the money each day and send it to us at the end of Lent.

To take part, all you need to do is email your name, address and contact details to fundraising@centralhertsymca.org.uk  and include ‘Love Thy Neighbour Registration’ in the subject line.

If you feel unable to participate please help us to spread news of this campaign by forwarding to everyone within your e-mail address book.

Once registered you will receive details of how to collect your sponsorship online through Just Giving and you will receive a sponsorship form which you can print off to start collecting.

The first 50 people to sign-up will receive a special Easter Egg so get in touch and start doing good!

You can sign up any time from Wednesday 17th February until Friday 26th March –  but the sooner you sign up, the more you can raise.

All the money raised will go towards the community work of the YMCA Central Herts. This includes the supported accommodation we provide in Welwyn Garden City for over 120 people who might otherwise be homeless and Space,  an innovative  drop-in community centre which in October 2009 was named runner-up for the ‘Everyday Impact Award’ by the Directory of Social Change for the benefit it offers our immediate community. A place where people of all ages can access free advice and support and just hang out and meet others in a safe, welcoming environment.
