Harlequin Watford, is inviting local dogs to take centre stage this Halloween at its first-ever Harlequin Halloween Hound fancy dress competition, taking place from 12pm–1pm on Saturday 31 October in Charter Place.

The free community event will see up to 50 dogs don their best spooky, silly and spectacular costumes before parading in front of the Harlequin Halloween selfie station, giving the crowd the chance to admire every tail-wagging look.

The Halloween Hound fancy dress competition will celebrate everything from frightfully funny outfits to creative homemade creations, with a judging panel selecting winners across three top Halloween-inspired categories. These include top trick-or-treater, spookiest costume and funniest costume.

Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place, with the overall winner receiving a special “Bow Wow Boo Basket” hamper. Second and third place will receive a £30 and £20 Watford Town Centre gift card.

Dog owners are encouraged to pre-register via Eventbrite to secure their place, with limited walk-in spaces available on the day for dogs already dressed to impress. Whether appearing as a pumpkin, a ghost, a witch or something entirely unexpected, all well-behaved dogs are welcome to join the fun.

Simon Plumb, Centre Director at Harlequin, said: “Halloween is all about bringing people together and having fun, and we cannot wait to welcome Watford’s dogs for what promises to be a brilliantly entertaining community celebration. From creative costumes to matching looks, we are looking forward to seeing the competition bring plenty of personality, laughter and Halloween spirit to Harlequin.”

Visitors can also enjoy free family Halloween craft sessions during half term, with activities including monster slime, trick-or-treat tote decorating and spellbook making forming part of the wider celebrations at Harlequin Watford.
