A REDROW HOME IS WHERE TOM’S HEART IS

GROWING up in a Redrow home then buying one himself wasn’t enough for Tom Phillips, he wanted to sell one too – but he hasn’t sold just one, he’s sold 24!

It’s less than a year since the 27-year-old became a sales consultant at the builder’s increasingly popular Taylor’s Chase homes collection in Warrington, but he’s already clocked up an impressive number of sales, and his only plan is to build on that.

Tom, a dad-of-two from Widnes, says: “It’s great. I love my job and I love coming to work each day.

“That sounds like a cliché but it’s true. I’ve lived in more than one Redrow home and I’ve been on the journey that all our customers embark on, so I can understand what they’re going through, and perhaps guide them where necessary.

“More than that, I can say hand on heart that I’m selling them a superb quality home from such a premium brand.”

Tom joined Redrow in August last year after working for a well-known DIY store selling kitchens, having started part-time to support a university degree and then, full time, rising to sales manager.

“The degree course wasn’t for me, so I left to join the company as a permanent employee. I love sales because I love working with people, but I also knew I wanted more – and I really wanted to work for Redrow, not least because of the reputation they have for building great new homes and because of the encouragement they give their staff,” he explains.

“My wife, Rachel, and I came looking at properties at Taylor’s Chase last year and I told the sales consultant Carol Sokol, who I now work with, that I’d love to do what she did.  She took my details and the rest is history.”

Lesley Myers, sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire) says it was a pleasure to give Tom the opportunity he was looking for: “Redrow is serious about nurturing young talent, either giving people like Tom a role or via our training programmes which equip people with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to embark on a path with us.

“But, however people begin their careers, we can guarantee that we will invest in, and encourage, them from the moment they begin. Tom’s success shows that it pays dividends for our employees and for us.”

Tom says getting to know customers and supporting them in their homebuying journey is one of the best parts of the job: “I met customers before but now I really get to know them and support them throughout their journey, understanding their needs and finding the product that best suits them.

“Because I’ve personally gone through the process I can share my experience which hopefully helps, and say what I did at a particular point. I love working with customers from beginning to end because I know the excitement of watching a house being built and the anticipation of it – and when I get to hand over the keys on completion and see them walking in to their brand-new home for the first time it gives me so much amount of pleasure.

“At Taylor’s Chase we are now on 48 sales split evenly, I think, between Carol and I – although we work very much together rather than keeping strict count. Especially after having two children of my own, Noah is seven and Isaac is three, I know how important it is to have a good family home in an excellent location, surrounded by plenty of amenities like shops and good schools.

“And that’s just what we are offering at Taylor’s Chase.”

There are currently two phases underway at Taylor’s Chase: The Brook will feature 158 two, three and four-bedroom properties, including 48 starter homes on land off Sophia Drive.

While the second phase, The Oaks, features a range of three, four and five-bedroom detached homes. Both are part of a larger development, Omega Warrington, and feature designs from Redrow’s Arts & Crafts-inspired Heritage Collection which complements traditional exteriors, with stunning open plan, modern interiors all benefiting from high-quality fixtures and fittings.

The homes are ideally located for families and commuters, with good public transport links offering excellent access to the M62, and close proximity to shops, services and schools, including the new Barrow Hall Primary.
