Fascinating little museum in beautiful original buildings with recreations of the various workshops and processes in the creation of leather goods. Amazing social history of the area- who knew Walsall was ( and still is) so important to the world of horse riding!
Great staff always ready to answer your questions. Kids can make their own leather key ring fobs. Highly recommend for a different day out.

Spent a wonderful couple of hours looking round this small but well laid out museum. Staff were very friendly and very informative and helpful. I understand that the long term future of this museum is under threat but if it does close we loose a window into our history that can never be replaced!

A little gem at the heart of Walsall in every way. Parking is easy and cheap over the road on Day Street. It’s easy and safe to cross with the crossings. Entry is free for all and the exhibits are of great quality and around every turn. The building, historic of course, adds to the experience. It’s important people go and use this museum so we don’t lose it. There’s so much local and British history included in the museum. Great for families and schools - as a teacher, I couldn’t believe how reasonable the workshop costs were per child for school trips. My children made a lovely key ring costing just 60p each - a great little keepsake. We then supported the museum by grabbing a drink and muffin at the cafe and the kids had a £1 each to spend at the gift shop. A lovely interactive little place that I wish I’d used before and will definitely use again. The staff were very knowledgeable and welcoming too. We teamed this up with a trip to the Art Gallery and walk along the canal. A great short, cheap day out for families of the area and beyond.

A fantastic museum, very interesting pieces and friendly staff. We did key ring stamping which was so fun, and the lovely gentleman who helped was full of knowledge and very welcoming.
Would definitely recommend for a day out.
Free entry, 60p for a keyring stamping (you can do yourself) and a little cafe for a hot drink afterwards

A brilliant place to visit. Paul and Rose were brilliant guides. The knowledge of the staff was overwhelming and happy to explain in detail. Well worth a visit

Lovely museum. Very helpful staff. Guides very knowledgeable . Demonstrated how a saddle was made. Got items of clothing made from leather out to show some children. Helped to made the museum more relatable.

The volunteers made this a very interesting visit for two boys with very short attention spans. The personal demonstrations and invitations to try the skills had them fully engaged for nearly two hours. The public car park just across the road makes for an easy visit.

What a lovely experience at the Museum today. Staff were very helpful and friendly. My 8 year old Granddaugher thoroughly enjoyed making a leather key ring which she will treasure. The different rooms were really interesting to explore and brought back lots of memories. Would certainly recommend a trip there.

Friendly staff, good value for money, lots to do. Good day out. My girls both enjoyed Easter crafts and hunt as well as making a key ring.
