S.P.Taylor Plumbing and Gas Services, Walsall

Before I start this review. I must say that the mark I have given is purely based on customer service, professionalism, communication and honesty. I can not mark SP Taylor on the work they did for us, because they never managed to do any. I contacted Taylor's on the 4th of October 2017, concerning a problem with my heating. They arranged for someone to come round the very next day. Which we felt was a positive sign. Sadly, that's where the positives ended. A guy named Ian turned up the next day as arranged. We explained the problem and he had a look at the system and admitted he wasn't quite sure what was causing the problem and that he wasn't totally familiar with this type of system. He took photos and told us he'd speak to his boss Stuart, as he knew more about our kind of heating system. He told us we would be contacted soon. Having not heard anything by Tuesday the 10th of October. I rang Taylors . They then sent me a quote by SMS and post for the work that needed doing based on what Stuart Taylor thought the problem was. We presumed??? We then arranged for a mutual time for Stuart to visit. Which was Friday the 20th of October. Stuart came as planned but told my partner the work he thought needed doing was not necessary as he now thought the problem was electrical . Faulty valve. He then left telling us he would get a electrician to contact us. We waited and waited and waited. No one contacted us. So a full 10 days later I phoned Taylors again to find out what the delay was. The lady I spoke to seemed surprised no one had contacted us and assured me she'd speak to the electrician straight away. The electrician phoned me that very day. He told me he'd never been contacted by Taylor's and preceded to ask me what the valve was as Taylor's hadn't explained anything to him. I told him he'd have to phone Taylor's back to find out exactly what needed doing. He said he'd get back on to Stuart Taylor to find out what needed doing. He told me he'd phone me the next day to confirm he was coming on Friday the 2nd of November. No such phone call happened. So I phoned him back on the Thursday to confirm he was still coming. He apologised and said he'd forgot but would still come round on the Friday. The electrician duly came the next day. He checked all the electrics to the heating system and confirmed they were all in perfect working order. So he said there was no point him changing the valve and charging us for something that didn't need doing. Which was a plus point. But still we were no further to getting the problem fixed. Give him his due though. He then phoned a gas engineer who he knew and explained the problem and system. The gas engineer said it sounded like a flow problem not electrical. Which we felt was more feasible. The electrician said he'd speak to Stuart Taylor and explain what had been said. On Monday the 6th of November I received a text off Stuart Taylor saying that the estimates had been sent in the post for the work that needed doing. No estimates turned up. Then on Thursday the 9th of November. I had another text off Stuart Taylor asking if I'd received the estimates and if not he would have them hand delivered. I told him we had received nothing in the post. He replied that he would hand deliver them. Again we waited and waited and waited. No estimates by post or even hand delivered. A stage coach and horses from wells fargo would have been quicker. Then low and behold on the 14th of November I received another text from Stuart Taylor saying "Sorry i been sick. Estimates will be out tomorrow". Well we feel sick. Sick and tired of the bullshit. It is now the 18th of November and still no estimates in the post or delivered by a slow boat from China. Obviously he's the only one who works for his company. "NOT". Honesty doesn't seem to sit well with these people? Summing up. We are now well over a month from when we first contacted Taylors. And still no nearer to getting the problem solved. The most important thing to us from any tradesman is honesty. If for whatever the reason they can't do the job. Be it lack of skills, lack of personel or to much workload. They should be honest with their customers. Lack of communication is time wasting and frustrating. And lack of professionalism is downright inept. I wish i could have marked Taylor's on their workmanship because they may of redeemed themselves? Perhaps not? Finally. I'm not sure what SP Taylor's are the best of, but unfortunately Walsall is not it. ONE TO BE AVOIDED PEOPLE.
