On Thursday 14 August, the Willenhall Chart Centre will host a heartfelt community event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day), marking the end of World War II and the restoration of peace across the globe. The celebration will take place from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, with free entry for all.

VJ Day, observed on 15 August in the UK, honours the moment Japan surrendered in 1945, bringing the Second World War to a close. It is a day of remembrance for those who served and sacrificed, and a time to reflect on the resilience of communities during wartime. This year’s 80th anniversary is especially poignant, as it marks eight decades since the world emerged from one of its darkest chapters.

The Willenhall event promises an uplifting evening of music, dancing, and food, bringing together residents of all ages to celebrate peace and unity. The highlight of the evening will be a live performance by the amazing singer Anthony Kinsey, whose powerful vocals and engaging stage presence are sure to captivate the audience.

“We’re proud to host this event in honour of VJ Day,” said Wayne Palmer from the Chart Centre. “It’s a chance for our community to come together, remember the past, and celebrate the peace we enjoy today. We welcome everyone to join us for an evening of joy, reflection, and togetherness.”

The event is open to all, and no tickets are required. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends and family and enjoy the festivities in a spirit of remembrance and celebration.
