Willenhall Community Food Service Update
12th June 2020
... Comments

Now completing the 10th week of operations, we have in total delivered over 7500+ meals to the vulnerable during the lockdown.  Our aim is to smash through 10,000 meals by the end of June 2020.  Our team of 25+ volunteers from all backgrounds work 7 days a week to prepare food for collection and delivery, serving a range of Indian food and vegetarian British favourites such as Sausage Roll and Chips, Pasta Bake and Pizza.

Each day at Guru Nanak Gurdwara Willenhall, we start preparation of food from 1pm to be ready to serve 5pm to the public.  On average 100 meals are collected each day and we are currently delivering around 150 meals per week.  All meals are served with crisps, chocolates, drink and fruit.  The kitchen facilities at the Gurdwara are great for making food in large quantities, as it is part of the Sikh Faith to share and partake in Communal Food Service for all.  The school classrooms at the Gurdwara have come in useful to help with the organisation of food parcel and storage of donations which are still coming in.   Walsall For All have nominated us as a Star Volunteer to recognise the work we have been doing.
