A community champion from Willenhall is to go on the airwaves to discuss exciting community initaitives for the local community.

 

Wayne Palmer, Manager of the Willenhall Chart building at 19 Gomer Street, Willenhall WV13 2NS, is going to be interviewed on Black Country Radio at 4pm on Sunday on Black Country Xtra.  the interview will be repeated on Monday at 6pm and be available on demand.  

 

Wayne Palmer is also the Chair of Friends of Willenhall Memorial Park and organiser of he Willenhall Carnival.  

 

 

"I was born and raised in Walsall" said Wayne  "and  started out at Alumwell Nursery, Infant, Junior, and Senior Schools, went through Sixth Form, and began my working life with a YTS scheme in Butchery—earning my NVQ and spending four years in the trade before stepping into community education."   For the last 25 years Wayne has   been proud to volunteer in the Willenhall community, helping make a real difference in people’s lives. He has   led Willenhall Carnival for over 14 years, planned it, ran it, and helped it grow into something locals truly cherish. He   chairs Willenhall Friends of Willenhall Memorial Park, keeping our green spaces cared for and loved. For 10 years, he has   also served as a Director and Volunteer at Willenhall Chart Centre, supporting residents through grassroots action.   "Recently, at the Chart Centre, I have  helped create the Warm Space Cozy Corner, a weekly meet-up where people come to connect, relax, and find friendship. I’ve also set up a Community Garden, giving people a peaceful place to sit, reflect, and nourish their wellbeing—while also growing food and flowers together" said Wayne.
